What's a Career-Technical Program?

GCIT now offers a full-time vocational career program for you!
A full-time comprehensive high school experience while learning their career theme. Students spend two hours of the school day concentrating on their career theme. Those career themes include:
The School of Cosmetology
The School of Culinary Arts
The School of Construction Technology
The School of Transportation Technology.
- All vocational programs offer BOTH College Prep or General academic tracks of learning.
- A small educational environment leads to individualized attention for all students.
- Instruction in academic classes will (where appropriate) reflect aspects of their career theme.
- Infusion of work-based learning opportunities throughout the four years and preparation for industry certification exams all combine to provide students with an exciting and relevant learning experience.
- All career themes have an Advisory Board comprising of professionals in the career area. This board keeps the educational level in step with advancing technologies within that career.
- All career themes meet all of the State of New Jersey Core Curriculum requirements for high school graduation.
- GCIT has a diverse student population and offers students a well-rounded high school experience including elective courses and extracurricular activities to enhance their opportunities for future success in careers, apprenticeships, colleges, and post-secondary education.
- Students are offered a full array of extracurricular activities including Tri-County Conference athletics, clubs, vocational student organizations, proms, plays and dances.
