What is the RENAISSANCE PROGRAM? The Renaissance Program is a national education program that recognizes and rewards students in the areas of academic achievement, attendance, and school and community citizenship. Renaissance is a program that brings together educators and partners in the business community to provide incentives to motivate students to achieve to their fullest potential in school. After report cards are distributed each marking period, students will be eligible to apply for one of two Renaissance cards: gold or silver. Each card has its own criteria and rewards as determined by the Renaissance committee, which is composed of GCIT teachers. All forms, criteria, and rewards can be found here, on the GCIT website. What is the next step to apply for the RENAISSANCE PROGRAM? - Review the Renaissance Criteria below and check criteria/rewards for gold and silver cards.
- Download an application and complete.
- Be sure to attach a copy of your last report card to the application.
- Return the application.
- The Renaissance Committee will review your application to see if you qualify for a card.
- You will be notified if you qualified for a card and the time and place at which they will be awarded.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND REWARDS GOLD CARD Qualifications: -
A average in each class (92-100) -
Application due before deadline -
No more than 2 absences per quarter/1 lateness per quarter -
No discipline offenses resulting in lunch detention, 3-6pm detention or in/out of school suspension. -
No failing grades -
Summer reading project completed -
Participation in a school-sponsored club, sport, service organization or a similar community based organization approved by the school. Rewards: - Special lunch on the day you receive your card
- Free admission to Mr. GCIT, Powder Puff and Dancing with the Teachers.
- 2 homework passes (Teacher discretion)
- 1 excused quiz (Teacher discretion)
- 5 points added to one test grade (Teacher discretion)
- Discounts at local businesses
SILVER CARD Qualifications: -
At least a B or higher in each class (84-100) -
Application due before deadline -
No more than 2 absences per quarter/1 lateness per quarter -
No discipline offenses resulting in lunch detention, 3-6pm detention or in/out of school suspension. -
No failing grades -
Summer reading project completed -
Participation in a school-sponsored club, sport, service organization or a similar community based organization approved by the school. - 1 Free admission to one of the following school events (Mr. GCIT, Powder Puff, Dancing with the Teachers)
- 1 homework pass (Teacher discretion)
- 5 points added to one quiz grade (Teacher discretion)
- Discounts at local businesses
