The School of Culinary Arts offers students a fully comprehensive high school education. In addition, students will gain training and exposure to the critical areas of the culinary profession. In their junior year, student will choose an area of concentration. Students are offered a wide array of academic options that include college preparatory, honors, and concurrent college/ high school classes. In addition, students may participate in an extensive range of extracurricular opportunities such as athletics, clubs, competitions, and organizations that center on their career theme - Students in the School of Culinary Arts spend two hours of the school day concentrating on their career theme. They will experience classes in the critical areas of the culinary profession including Classical and Contemporary Cuisine, Baking and Pastry Arts, and Garde Manager skills.
- Culinary Arts students have averaged 55 medals and $50,000 in scholarships each year at national competitions.
- GCIT prepares our students for success. Graduates of our School have been accepted into prestigious colleges, become successful business owners, and are climbing the ladder of the success at renowned restaurants and casinos.
- GCIT has formed relationships with area businesses that lend expert guidance and afford employment opportunities to our students. The School of Culinary Arts has an advisory committee made up of experts in the culinary arts field.
- Enrolled as junior members, Culinary Arts students are members in good standing with many professional organizations including the American Culinary Federation, the National Restaurant Association, the Retail Bakers Association, and the Professional Chef Association of South Jersey.
- Our dedicated staff, who in addition to their teaching certifications, are experienced professionals in the culinary arts field who utilize the state‐of‐the‐art classrooms to teach our students.
- Culinary students receive leadership training in various student organizations including Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and SkillsUSA.
- Upon graduation students will earn a baking certificate from the New Jersey Bakers’ Board of Trade and the New Jersey Retail Bakers Association.
