School of Transportation Technology
The School of Transportation Technology offers specializations in 3 technical majors: Automotive Technology, Collision Repair Technology, and Power Sports Technology. Students gain exposure to the varied specialties throughout grades 9 and 10. In their junior year, students choose a focused area of study. GCIT offers a comprehensive high school education. Students may participate in an extensive range of extracurricular opportunities such as athletics, clubs, competitions, and organizations that concentrate on their career theme. As a service-learning leader school, students gain critical life experience in the Gloucester County community. - Students in the School of Transportation Technology spend two hours of the school day concentrating on their career theme.
- The Transportation Technology program offers students a comprehensive high school experience with a focus on Transportation Technology.
- The Transportation Technology program offers specialization in three technical majors: Automotive Technology, Collision Repair Technology, and Power Sports Technology.
- The program maintains affiliations and associations with nationally recognized organizations in the Transportation Technology field to insure optimum opportunity for our students. They include the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF), Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), and Inter‐Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (ICACR).
- Through the FordASSET Program, qualified students may earn college credits from GCC during their senior year.
- Through GCIT’s Tech Prep program, students may continue their post‐secondary education in the transportation industry with advanced standings. Colleges including Gloucester County College, Camden County College, and Pennsylvania College of Technology have articulation agreements with our program.
- The Transportation Technology program has an Advisory Committee made up of professionals from the Transportation industry.
- Through GCIT’s strong School‐to‐Careers component, students are offered work‐based learning opportunities.
- Transportation Technology students are offered preparation for industry certification exams.
- The Transportation Technology program is certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
- GCIT students were awarded gold medals for the SkillsUSA state competition. Our students placed first at the FordAAA Student Auto Skills Competition.
