Emergency Closings
Whenever GCIT must close school or dismiss classes early for emergency situations (weather, physical plant, etc.), every attempt will be made to inform students and their families. If schools are closed, the District will post this information on local TV and radio stations, including Channel 13—the Gloucester County local access cable station. The school closing code for KYW is 833.

Additionally, emergency closing information will be made available through our Roam Secure Program, and will be
posted on the District Web site whenever possible.

  • All staff members are required to wear ID cards at all times
  • Security cameras operate inside and outside of the building
  • The District employs a School Resource Officer from the department of the Gloucester County Sheriff
  • The District participates in scheduled emergency drills, including intruder drills
  • The District hosts the county-wide Safe Schools Program and participates in county-wide Crisis Team Activities
  • The District hosts an annual Violence and Vandalism Summit which is open to the public
