WALL OF FAME

BYLAWS

 

I.     Name

The name of the organization shall be the Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Wall of Fame.

 

II.     Purpose

The purpose of the Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Wall of Fame is to recognize Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s graduates and business partners. Nominees shall have distinguished themselves in the areas of leadership, character, achievement, suitability as a role model, and/or contributions to career and technical education. The permanent honor of being selected to the Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Wall of Fame represents individuals and business partners, who through their individual/collective efforts have exemplified the established vision of the Gloucester County Vocational-Technical School District.

 

III.    Qualifications for Nomination

A nominee for the Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Wall of Fame shall:

Ø  Be a graduate of GCIT and have attended a minimum of (3) years as a full-time or 

 (2) years as shared time student.

Ø  Have been out of high school for at least (7) years.

Ø  Have their nomination based on qualifications of: Leadership, Character, Achievement, Student, Suitability as a Role-Model, and/or contributions to Career and Technical Education.

 

IV.    Submittal of Nominations

The selection committee shall consider all nominees who meet the selection criteria for induction into Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Wall of Fame.

Anyone may submit nominations by completing the official nomination form. All applications nominating a candidate must be submitted no later than the designated date of each calendar year in order to be considered for selection that specific school year.

 

V.     Selection Committee

Any currently employed GCIT staff/faculty member may serve on the selection committee.

All committee members shall serve a (3) year term but may choose to remain on the committee on a year-to-year basis. All committee members serve without monetary compensation.

A member of the selection committee may be removed from the committee for improper conduct or lack of regular attendance by a majority vote of committee membership.

The Superintendent, or their designee, shall be responsible for facilitating the meetings, developing agenda items and procedures, establishing meeting dates, times, and locations, contacting nominees, and releasing information to the website and social media.

The Superintendent, or their designee, shall facilitate the selection process and chair the selection committee but is a non-voting member. In the event of a tie, the Superintendent, or their designee, shall cast their vote. 

VI.     Selection Process

Each committee member will review all completed nomination forms to verify eligibility. All committee members will share any information gathered in its search to validate the nominee’s qualifications so that all members will have the same information to assist in the selection process.

Each committee member will score the nominees using the board approved rubric. This rating process will be conducted anonymously.

The Superintendent, or their designee, will tally the rubric scores to determine the top three candidates for the GCIT Wall of Fame. Formal approval for the Wall of Fame will be presented to the Board of Education of the Gloucester County Vocational-Technical School District for consideration.

VII.     Formal Notification

The Gloucester County Institute of Technology Superintendent, or their designee, shall notify any nominee, or their representative, approved by the Board of Education of the Gloucester County Vocational-Technical School District for formal induction into the Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Wall of Fame.

 VIII.     Induction Ceremony/Activities

Individuals approved for formal induction will be honored at a ceremony at a designated time during the current school year. At the ceremony, the inductee will be presented with a formal Board Resolution and gift from the Gloucester County Institute of Technology. A formal portrait of the individual, along with their biographical sketch, will be framed and placed on display at GCIT.

IX.     Amendment Clause

These bylaws will be periodically reviewed and revised as desired by the “Wall of Fame” committee and presented to the Board of Education of the Gloucester County Vocational-Technical School District.
