Back to School Information

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year.

The school year will begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 8:00 am for students.

As typical of a new school year, updated information will need to be completed to ensure a successful school experience. Starting the last week of August, Back to School Information will need to be completed. Those forms will be available on your students PowerSchool account under the "Forms" tab on the left hand side. Parent/Guardians will receive an email when they become available for completion along with information regarding student schedules.

Freshman Meet & Greet and Parent/Student Orientation for the Class of 2030 hosted by School Based Youth Services

August 19, 2026 and August 20, 2026

The Meet & Greet (for students only) will offer the following:

• Student icebreaker sessions with freshman classmates
• Student introduction to teachers, counselors and administrators
• Tours of the building
• Picture ID's will be taken from 11:30am to 12:30pm in the 400 commons/lobby area

The Parent Orientation will be a separate session with GCIT administration immediately following the Meet & Greet portion of the day. . The parent presentation will run from approximately 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM. 

Following the presentation, students and parents/guardians will have the opportunity to walk through the building to find classes.

Gym uniforms may be purchased through the GCIT website* or in person during gym classes. In-person orders may be purchased beginning the first day of school with a check or money order made payable to GCIT. Cash will not be accepted.

Gym uniforms will be given out the second day they have class.

Hoodie & Sweatpants: $42.00

All four items above: $60.00

Shirt and shorts are the minimum mandatory gym uniform but can be any combination of the above.

*A small credit card convenience fee will be added for online payments. Each student must show proof of purchase by either printing their receipt or taking a screen shot of their receipt on their phone.

Please keep in mind you do not have to order/purchase a gym uniform in the beginning of the school year if you do not have Fitness for Life until the second semester.

• SBYS has been in residence at GCIT for over 30 years.
• SBYS provides leadership opportunities for GCIT students.  Opportunities include Red Shirt Student Leaders for the Freshman Meet and Greet, Cathedral Kitchen volunteer opportunities, GCASE (Gloucester County Administrators for Special Education) welcoming and much more.
• Recreational trips throughout the school year. Past trips include hiking, All Fired Up, a trip and tour of Washington D.C., just to name a few. All trips are free to students and include a meal/snack.
• Individual counseling, group support and family consult services provided to interested parties at no cost by three counselors with a variety of educational levels and specialized areas. 
• Mindfulness activities, stress reduction workshops, the Zen den, and other offerings to help to reduce stress and anxiety in teens.
• Assembly programs, parent and community educational programs, our annual Secret Santa Workshop and much more.
• All SBYS services and activities are free to the participants.  Services are provided to students voluntarily, with students choosing to be involved in whatever activities interest them.
• SBYS is generously funded through a grant provided by the NJ Department of Children and Families, Division of Family and Community Partnerships, Office of School Linked Services.

EARLY DISMISSAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM 

PARENT DROP OFF AND PICK-UP

*500 SIDE ENTRANCE ONLY*

• Morning Drop-Off (7:30 a.m.–8:05 a.m.)
  Parent/Guardian drop-off for all grade levels will take place at the 500-side entrance ONLY (side entrance by the pool).
• Drop-Off/Pick-Up During School Hours (8:05 a.m.–1:45 p.m.)
  Parent/Guardian drop-off or pick-up for all grade levels will take place at the 400 Main Entrance ONLY.
• Afternoon Pick-Up (2:27 p.m.–3:00 p.m.)
  Parent/Guardian pick-up for all grade levels will take place at the 500-side entrance ONLY.

• Always follow the traffic flow as directed by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office assigned School Resource Officers.
• No Student DROP OFF or PICK UP is permitted in any areas other than the designated 500-wing parking lot area for arrival and dismissal.  This is a safety hazard for the students and other drivers on the campus.
• There is only One WAY into the designated drop off and pick up area.  Enter the lane along the tree line parking spots. There is only ONE WAY Vehicles will exit the 500-wing parking lot area along the building.   No cutting through parking spots or lanes. DO Not drive over the parking blocks, cut through parking or lanes to enter or exit the parking lot area.   The barricades and parking blocks are there to assist with the heavy traffic flow (see map). 
• GCIT campus can also be accessed via Bankbridge Rd.   
• ALL dismissal procedures remain the same even on half days, 2 hr delays, etc.      

• Do NOT pull into parking spaces in the morning to drop off students.  These spots are assigned to staff and senior students.
• Vehicles will be directed around parked cars and stopped briefly for student drop- off.
• The first vehicle must pull as far forward to the corner of the building, with all following vehicles moving forward so that all cars reach the curb.
• All students must exit vehicles immediately on the passenger (curbside) side.
• Licensed drivers must remain in the driver’s seat of their vehicle at morning drop off.  Permit drivers should not be switching drivers at the drop off point.  This disrupts and causes delays in the traffic flow.  
• Students should be ready with their belongings to exit quickly.  This includes any sports equipment, projects, etc.  Students retrieving these items at the drop off point disrupts the traffic flow and causes delays. 
• DO NOT drop a student off in the line prior to the designated drop off area (this area is designated as the curbed area in front of the 500 wing).  This is a safety hazard for the students and other drivers on the campus.  
• (There will be 2 lanes designated for dropping off.  The right lane will be dedicated to having vehicles exit towards Tanyard Rd; the left lane will be dedicated to exiting towards Bankbridge Rd.  Be in the correct drop off lane, there will be no deviation for exiting the parking lot.

• Please wait in your vehicle parked in a spot and have the student come to your vehicle.  Once the student is in a vehicle, then exit the parking spot, and follow the directions of the School Resource Officers to exit the campus (SEE MAP). 
• NO students are permitted to be picked up in any of the FIRE LANE areas.   ALL Traffic in the FIRE LANE area is moving, and no student should be entering vehicles during pick up in this area-this creates a safety hazard and will cause a delay in traffic exiting the campus.

• For the safety of your child and others, it is critical that all families follow these procedures and comply with the directions of our School Resource Officers.
