Student Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
PARENT DROP OFF AND PICK-UP*500 ENTRANCE ONLY*
Between the hours of 7:30 am and 7:50 am AND 2:30 pm: Parent/Guardian drop off and pick-up for all grade levels is the 500 entrance ONLY.
Between the hours of 8:00am and 1:45pm: Parent/Guardian drop off and pick-up for all grade levels is the 400 main entrance ONLY.
STUDENTS CANNOT BE PICKED UP EARLY AFTER 1:45 PM, YOU MUST WAIT UNTIL 2:30 PM IN THE 500 WING STUDENT PICK UP AREA.
DO NOT drop off and/or pick-up in any other location other than those specified above. Please do not park in any of GCIT’s parking lots, please do not park in the Bankbridge Elementary School parking lot and have your child walk across the parking lot, please do not go the main office other than during the hours between 8:00am and 1:45pm: ONLY drop off and pick up your child at the 500 ENTRANCE. This is a safety issue and concern for all staff, students and parents/guardians.
Please understand that NO private vehicles are to be in the area of the 100 or 400 wing entrances between the hours of 7:30 am and 8:00 am, nor the hours between 1:45pm and 2:45pm. Parent should not be parking in vacant parking places and waiting. This creates a safety issue and conflicts with traffic patterns.
When you arrive to the 500 ENTRANCE: all cars will be directed into the lot, around the parked cars and will be stopped for a short time. Approximately 15 cars will be directed by our school resource officers to the curbside of the 500 entrance. The first car will move forward to the corner of the building and the other cars will follow permitting the cars to ALL GET CURBSIDE. ALL CARS WILL HAVE THEIR CHILDREN EXIT THE CAR ONCE ALL THE CARS HAVE PARKED CURBSIDE. The students who have left your vehicle and have entered the building will be directed to move into the 400 commons area to await the beginning of school.
Please assist our resource officers in the safe exit of your children from the car and into the building. All drivers should remain in the car, students should be ready with their bookbag and school items to exit the car immediately, students should exit the car on the passenger side (curbside) and please, NO STUDENT DRIVERS during this time. Once all students have exited the cars and are on the curb, the next group of cars will be permitted to move curbside. Remember: it is extremely important that the first car moves to the end of the building and the remaining cars move all the way forward.
For your safety and that of your children, PLEASE follow our drop off and pick up protocols, and obey our school resource officers!
*BUS DROP OFF AND PICK-UP*
Buses arriving BEFORE 7:30am, please release the students at the 400 main office entrance and continue through the bus loop. These students will be held in the lobby area and then released at 7:30am into the 400 commons/cafeteria.
Buses arriving AT OR PAST 7:30 am, STOP at the gym entrance at the beginning of the loop and wait for directions. Staff members will meet you at that location and then direct you to either the 100 entrance or the 400 main office entrance. For both procedures, all buses will continue through the bus loop in the front of the building.
Once those school locations are filled and there is no additional room for students, the staff members will direct you to release the students at the gym entrance where you are stopped. Once the students are released, you can proceed through the bus loop.
All students that are being dropped by parents will continue to enter through the 500 entrance. These students will move into the 400 commons/cafeteria area and remain until the 7:50 am dismissal.
Students who are driving to school are to enter through the gymnasium entrance and remain in that area until the 7:50 am dismissal.
Buses arriving AFTER 7:50 am, release the bus of students at the 400 main office entrance and continue through the bus loop.
